FOREST Presented at ECCM22
Although the FORESTproject officially concluded in May 2026, topics closely connected to its research focus continue to be represented within the European composites community.
FOREST partners took part in ECCM22, the 22nd European Conference on Composite Materials, held in Oslo, Norway. On Tuesday, 23 June, two presentations were delivered by representatives of FOREST partner organisations, addressing themes related to bio-based materials, efficient processing and sustainable composite manufacturing.
Fernando Ramos Saz from AIMPLAS presented “Thermoplastic Pultrusion of Bio-PA6 Hybrid Carbon Fiber Laminates with Enhanced Multidirectional Performance”. Jan-Marten Sprenger from Fraunhofer IFAM presented “Efficient processing of biobased benzoxazines: A step towards sustainable biocomposite manufacturing through catalysed curing”.
The presentations reflect the continued relevance of research areas addressed within FOREST, including bio-based polymer systems, sustainable composite processing and advanced lightweight materials.
During its lifetime, FOREST focused on the development of innovative bio-based polymers and additives, recycled carbon fibres and lightweight multifunctional biocomposites for sustainable and safe transport applications. The project’s concept was built around reducing dependency on fossil-based sources, supporting carbon fibre recovery and exploring more resource-efficient composite materials for sectors such as automotive, aeronautics and public transport.
Participation in events such as ECCM22 helps keep these topics visible and supports knowledge exchange on the future of sustainable, high-performance composite materials in Europe.
